The track season began following after Christmas Break. Freshmen and upperclassmen practice together, but do not compete together. The Heritage track teams include Freshman, JV (junior varsity), Varsity. All of these teams will compete against other schools to try winning the track meets for RHHS.

Ninth grade Isabella Saclolo says of her track experience so far, “Well it’s hard but I’m hopefully getting stronger, and getting the chance to compete with other schools is cool. I think it’s going well so far but you never know because it just started”. Saclolo is planning on participating in multiple events. “I’ll possibly be in the 200 meters, 110 meter hurdles, and 200 hurdles. And maybe long jump. I would like to place in the top five, that’s my goal for right now. I know I’m not very strong right now but I’ll get there and hopefully meet my goal,” Saclolo said.

Nicholas Martin, a 10th grader in his third year of track, said “I first began track in eighth grade at Oakdale, and ever since then I’ve enjoyed the competitiveness and work ethic required”. Martin believes the team has strong potential. “This year I’m hoping to place in more events than I did last year. I also want to improve on high-jump. I think this track season will be decent but hopefully I’ll continue to improve and make it great.” Martin said.

Track season has just started and nobody can tell what will happen before the first meet. The athletes are hard at work trying to improve and better themselves.
