Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Trailer Review

The Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens trailer reveals that the film will focus around new characters Rey, a scavenger waiting for her family on the planet Jakku and Finn, a former First Order Stormtrooper. The new antagonist for the film, Kylo Ren, a member of the Knights of Ren (A branch of Sith or Dark Side of the Force users) is on a crusade of sorts to end the Resistance, follow his idol Darth Vader’s footsteps and finish killing the last of the Jedi. Many classic characters appear to be returning for the brand new beginning of a new trilogy such as, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess now General Leia, C-3po (Threepio), R2-D2 (Artoo), and possibly Luke Skywalker.

The planet where Rey lives and Finn crash lands is known as Jakku (being very similar to Tattooine without the extra sun). The new crossblade lightsaber introduced in the trailer owned by Kylo Ren looks amazing and detailed to appear unstable due to its fiery and electrified appearance but still seems to be extremely effective. Captain Phasma, the female Captain in a metallic stormtrooper armor appears to be Kylo Ren’s second-in-command in charge to lead some or most of the squadrons of the First Order. The information on the new characters for this film has many theories on their past or connections toward each other such as Kylo Ren and Rey being the twin children of Han Solo and Leia Organa Skywalker or the twin children of Luke Skywalker and Finn being the possible son of Lando Calrissian.

Overall, the trailer for The Force Awakens looks amazing. I would rate it 10/10 for its quality, and how it gives you the vibe of what the story will be like, but still has you wanting more. It seems to live up to the expectations of true fans. Now all there is to do is wait for more trailers or wait for the movie. Judging on this trailer, it has the potential of being one of the greatest films of this generation…unless they pull a Jar Jar.
