Basketball has ended and the Soccer season has begun. February 23rd was the last basketball game and the first game kicks off today at 4 p. m.

The boy’s soccer team has been working hard since the beginning of the year and will hopefully be very successful. Tony Hurtado is a freshman at Heritage High School. This will be his first game as a War Eagle. “I believe that our first game is going to go very well. We’ve been working hard to get better every day. Our coaches have pushed us to be better & we’ve created chemistry to work with each other better,” said Hurtado. “It definitely makes me nervous because the competition is way harder than before. But as long as I have my teammates, I think it will be fine.”

Brooklyn Ligi, a sophomore at Heritage, is on the girls varsity soccer team. This is her first time playing on varsity. Being her first year on varsity she feels more responsibility and thinks she needs to try harder. Brooklyn believes she’ll do better this year and will contribute more to the team. “I think we’re gonna be good. Because everyone is strong with their positions and we communicate well and work together as a team. And our coaches are awesome,” Ligi said. “ I was on junior varsity last year and it raised my confidence and makes me feel good. Although I feel like the expectations are higher than last year and I’ll have to work harder. I think I’ll do good this year.”

The first soccer game is today, Monday, February 26th at Whitey Smith Stadium at Rogers High School due to bleachers installation at RHHS. The Varsity boys game begins at 4 pm and the girls is around 5:45 pm. It will be a home game against Danville. JV boys will play Springdale and Bentonville JV at Springdale High School at 4:30 pm and 5:45 pm. JV girls will play Springdale and Bentonville JV at Bentonville High School at 5:45 pm and 7 pm.
