Samsung Galaxy S8 overview

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is set for a release date of mid to late April. At this point in time we have most of the important information thanks to many leaks within the last month. They’re not official specs or pictures confirmed by Samsung, but the leaks have come from very reliable sources. Among the very first couple of leaks were the dimensions of the phone itself. The latest Galaxy device will have a 5.8 inch display with 1140 x 2960 resolution and will be 7.3 mm thin. However, later on, news came out that revealed that the Galaxy S8 will be available in two different versions: The Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. The Plus variant will have a 6.2 inch screen, but makes the iPhone 7+ look like a heavily outdated device because of the way Samsung has designed the phone so that the screen is 95% of the phone. How did Samsung manage to make the screen 95% of the phone? Well, they removed the home button. That’s right. The new Galaxy will not have a home button nor the touch sensitive buttons that all it’s predecessors had. This time, Samsung opted to go with on-screen buttons similar to those of Google or Sony devices. The home button on the Galaxy S6 and S7 held the fingerprint scanner, but on the S8 the scanner has been moved to the back of the phone. But will we really need to use it? The Galaxy Note 7 included an iris scanner and that is rumored to be brought into the new Galaxy S phone, but with an improved version.  The camera will be among the best any smartphone has ever seen with 12 megapixels in the rear and 8 megapixels in the front for a perfect selfie! Samsung will be introducing a new AI assistant by the name of Bixby. Samsung bought the creators of Bixby, Viv, last year and it is rumored that Bixby will be the most complex AI assistant any smartphone has ever seen. By now you must be asking yourself what powers the Galaxy S8? Inside you will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip with 4 GB of RAM, which promises even faster speeds, better battery life, and better graphics than last year’s 820 and 821 chip. Like its predecessor, the Galaxy S8 will retain the water resistant feature. News continues to leak every single day it seems, but so far the most important information is the information described above. This could very well be the greatest smartphone the world has ever seen. Mark March 29th on your calendars because that is when Samsung will be officially unveiling the Galaxy S8 and answering any remaining questions.
