National Spanish Honor Society

National Spanish Honor Society

Monica Sanchez, Writer

The National Spanish Honor Society is not all that different from the National Honor Society. Basically, the only difference is that you have to know Spanish and be in a Spanish class of level 2 or above. The program is a part of the AATSP (the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese). The requirements include having and maintaining a grade point average of 3.0, having and maintaining a 3.0 in Spanish, and you need to do 10 hours of voluntary community service per year (5 hours per semester). When the NSHS meets, members talk about how their grades are, community service opportunities and they discuss new project ideas. This year will be the second full year of National Spanish Honor Society at Heritage. If you have any questions or want to apply, contact Mr. Arnhart in room D108.
