Kona Ice

Kallina Sims, Writer

A snow cone truck came to RHHS so I had a talk with them because they played pretty good songs out of their truck.

Francisco and Shane are two friends who love their job at Kona Ice. Francisco says that “Tigers Blood, Bubblegum, Cotton Candy, and Island Orange” are his favorites while Shane says his favorites are “Island Orange with cream and Doctor Kona with cream”, but both agree their favorite fluctuates from season to season.

Neither claim to be good at jokes but they like to laugh. Francisco even joked that “dealing with this guy [Shane] all day is the worst part of the job.”

In reality, the worst part of the job, both agree, are the rainy days. Their favorite parts are “seeing people smile while getting cones”. They also consider “giving back to the community” is a good part. Their claim is supported, as they were at RHHS to raise money for our PTO. We don’t know for sure how much was raised, but we do know that the truck was a big hit at with students and faculty, and with the affordable prices of three dollars and up they were surely able to raise a bit.

Francisco and Shane’s advice to RHHS students is to “work hard to keep good grades. Make smart decisions… like buying a Kona Ice.”

So anyway, if you see Kona Ice around town drop by and visit them because their prices, flavors, music, and funny personalities are not something you’ll find anywhere else. Plus who doesn’t have a weird thing for food trucks? There is literally no downside.
