Rogers School District is investing in Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes by expanding the Career Center at Heritage High School.
The Career Center, also known as the CC building, has been under construction since June. The expansion should be complete by April 2024.
“We are expanding the CC building to have classes like having a diesel mechanic shop, medical training facilities and construction trade facilities,” Principal Chip Greenwell said.
The orange fencing hides the progress of the construction from students, but the building should be walkable and viewable at least by next year so that students can get a preview before choosing their classes.
“It should be open and ready to go before the next school year,” said Jacob Morris, who teaches health-field classes and is the CTE department chair. “We are still working on the individual classes that will be offered, but we should have a better understanding of that before class registration.”
The slate of classes that will be offered in the expanded CC building will vastly expand the CTE programs available to students within the entire district.
“We will have programs for medical students, automotive students, students interested in diesel mechanics, agricultural students, machine tool students and also for construction students,” Morris said.
