The teams playing in Superbowl LI have now been determined. The Atlanta Falcons steamrolled Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers 21-44 to secure their trip to Houston for the Superbowl. Meanwhile, 1000 miles north of Atlanta, the New England Patriots comfortably beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-36 and gave Tom Brady the chance to win a record breaking 5th Superbowl ring. The Patriots and Falcons will meet on February 5th in Houston, Texas at NRG Stadium. It’s an intriguing matchup because you’ll have one of the top offenses the NFL has seen in the Atlanta Falcons against the top defense in the NFL in the New England Patriots. Many questioned how far Atlanta could get because while their offense was red hot, their defense looked average at best throughout the entire season. The Falcons’ defense looked like a completely different team against the Seahawks and the Packers. Now the question is whether they’ll be able to stop Tom Brady, arguably the best quarterback ever. The Patriots will be heading to Houston as favorites, but there are questions surrounding their defense. Will they be able to slow down Matt Ryan, a candidate for the MVP award? Heading into the Pittsburgh game, New England had only faced two quarterbacks that were real threats. They handled Ben Roethlisberger, but Matt Ryan is having a season to remember for Atlanta. Will the Patriots be exposed? Will Tom Brady pick apart the Falcons’ secondary? One thing is for sure: This will be an intriguing game. With both teams sporting high-powered offenses, expect this to be a high-scoring affair.
