Last spring Heritage lost well loved, hard working student Maria Bahena to Synovial Sarcoma cancer on May 18th, 2015. First diagnosed as a young child and won her battle but then is resurfaced at 17. She spent 5 months and her 18th birthday in Arkansas Children’s Hospital.  She won the chamber of commerce award twice and was involved in choir and FCCLA, who is organizing a memorial for heritage on campus.

FCCLA has raised the funds necessary to buy a memorial bench for Maria.  The bench will be placed in the commons with a plaque commemorating Maria’s time at RHHS.  The private unveiling ceremony will be May 10th, 2016.
