In mid-2015, our long-enjoyed city park, Lake Atalanta, closed temporarily.  The city decided that after years of slow, subtle deterioration of the park, renovations were long since due. After 16 months of renovations and reconstructions of many things, including longer and newer trails, the park is finally nearly finished again.

On Saturday, October 29th between 11:30 am and 2 pm, the city is welcomed to come visit the renewed park. There are free family activities from 9:30 am to 1 pm a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held 1 pm. This is a great opportunity to explore the new park. But just as it was the years before it closed, feel free to visit other days as well.  This re-opening event is entirely free to the public. Tyson will be kindly serving complimentary hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips while supplies last, starting at 10 am near the Clark Pavilion on the South side of Walnut Street.

Greg Hines, Mayor of Rogers, knows how much the lake has meant to families for generations and is pleased for Northwest Arkansas citizens to begin creating new memories in the newer park. This is a highly anticipated event for locals; the Facebook event has  over 1.6 thousand people interested.

5 News wrote an article saying that there are added pavilions, more trails, and the preexisting trails have been redone; perhaps the most anticipated is the new one around the lake. The pavilions will be available for rental for private events like birthdays and other events of that type in the future. The lake has a new boardwalk for fishing.

With all of these renovations and new activities, the park we knew and loved is sure to come back thriving.
