Grace Chon, an animal photographer, started a series in 2016 called, ‘Hairy.’ The series contains photos of dogs before and after they are groomed. Chon teamed up with Cameron Adkins, Patricia Sugihara, Cindy Reyes, Koko Fukaya, Donna Owens, and Alyson Ogimachi, all professional dog hairstylist at Healthy Spot, located in Los Angeles, CA. Chon has always found before and after photos of groomed dogs to be funny because of how different the dog looks in comparison. She wanted each dog to have a certain type of cut, one that wasn’t common in the U.S. Chon chose a Japanese grooming style for the dogs in order to enhance their features. The grooming took hours to do and a majority was done with hand scissors. “There is a lot of whimsy and creativity involved in making the dogs look almost like they’re stuffed animals,” Chon told HuffPost.

Below is a glimpse of Grace Chon’s 2016 series, ‘Hairy’ along with the pets name next to their photo.

Chon has two pets of her own, two dogs named Maeby and Zoey, both rescue dogs. Maeby is described to be a Whippet/Doberman mix while Zoey is a black Labrador. Chon and her husband are settled in Los Angeles with their baby boy and both dogs. Chon enjoys hiking with her dogs, meditating, and growing organic heirloom tomatoes. Her clients are animal brands like Milkbone and Puring, along with greeting cards and calendar companies.

Chon chose to share her new series on a website called, ‘Bored Panda,’ where anyone can post anything. Although it was Chon’s first and only post, 1.8 millions people have seen it. Not only that but she also received 13 millions likes on facebook. Chon also has 47.5 followers on Instagram where she post regularly with photos of her work. She plans to publish a book in 2018 with 30+ makeovers.
