Timothy Heller Divulges Allegations Against Melanie Martinez
January 11, 2018
Melanie Martinez, 2012 finalist of The Voice, was accused of rape on December 4th. Timothy Heller, the accuser, is no stranger. In fact, she is a former friend of Melanie. Timothy let the public know via Twitter of being raped in a lengthy post only to shock the public when she revealed Melanie as the said rapist.
The next day, only 12 hours later, Melanie stated on Twitter on Heller’s accusations that they are not true. “I am horrified and saddened by the statements and story told tonight by Timothy Heller, Martinez wrote. “What she and I shared was a close friendship for a period of time. We came into each other’s lives as we were both starting our careers as artists, and we tried to help each other. We both had pain in dealing with our individual demons and the new paths we were forging, but I truly felt we were trying to lift each other up.”
Just recently, December 9th, Melanie denies the claims yet again stated the claims are “false statements.”
Heller says that she “repeatedly said no” on the night of which the accusation took place. This event was not recent, Heller has been holding on to this story “for years.” Her post goes on to claim that Martinez continued her advances and performed sexual acts, again, without her consent. Heller admits that she was tired after two nights of little sleep but that it didn’t matter. “She knew I didn’t want to, I made that clear.” Martinez in her previous statement argued that Heller “never said no,” to what they two chose together. This drew immense criticism from Twitter users, many arguing that not saying no is not the equivalent of consent.
A Twitter trend recently ensued claiming that Heller had lied about her allegations after Martinez reiterated that Heller was making false accusations. Martinez’s fans took to analyzing the dates in the what Heller had posted and comparing the dates to her Instagram posts. They also traced Martinez’s whereabouts on those dates. All of this information they used as proof to denounce Heller and her claims.

I do not believe Timothy Heller, there is too much proof she is lying. If you want a lot of proof go watch this video on youtube which is 2 hours and explains all the evidence that proves Heller is lying.

Rape is rape. If they’re under the influence, bought a sex game, or say no before or during any acts, that is rape. These things are very traumatizing and she could’ve gotten her dates mixed up. Why would she lie about this when all it brought was backlash? I’ve been a melanie fan for years but i’m not going too act like she’s a god that does no wrong. We have no idea who she might actually be. Maybe Timothy is lying but I think that is highly implausible.

I see controversy is very real in this argument. Anyways, I still believe Timothy lied. It’s always better to believe the accuser first, and at first I did believe Timothy Heller wholeheartedly. But her statements don’t add up. After she received so much sympathy for her being a victim of such a serious case, she used that attention and spotlight to her advantage, continuing to post about her and Melanie’s friendship as a way to get more attention. I do truly believe she lied, and there’s not a lot that cna convince me otherwise.

I am one of the people who follows this very closely and who isn’t convinced that Timothy lied about this. I had numerous discussion and in all honesty … I tried to approach it in a rational manner saying “You can’t construct a reliable timeline based on instagram posts. You don’t know when the photos were taken just when they were uploaded” or “Melanie heavely implied there was an incident and just claimed that it was consensual, it doesn’t proof it was consensual even if Timothy said a wrong date”. But … I was going about it the wrong way. I think its much more about social and psychological dynamics. And that makes it way harder to argue with.

Never saying no does not mean yes. Punching someone in the face is not excusable, even if the person never said “No, DON’T punch me in the face.” Coercing someone into sex is still rape. Raping someone who is under the influence is still rape.

I dislike this whole thing. I love Melanie and I feel she would never do that. But everyone has their secrets but I feel like her dates and accusations and everything does not add up.

This is victim shaming at its finest. It is not fair to accuse a victim of deceit because “fans” believe their idol has done nothing wrong, and believe they have “proof” of the victim’s lies. Look at Larry Nassar, a prestige US Olympic doctor who is a monster.

This is not victim shaming at all, and the fact that you already see Timothy as victim means you neglect the idea of innocent until proven guilty. The person above said that the dates and accusation dont add up so how is that blaming anyone?

Timothy also said that they had played a sex like game that she bought from a thrift store, why would she buy a sex game if she didnt want to do anything sexual with Melanie??
Kallina • Jan 25, 2018 at 10:15 am
Buying a game is not consent.
Sai • Jan 30, 2018 at 5:16 pm
It was a sexual game that she consentedt o playing so uh..

She also did mention smoking and when under the influence or drugs or alcohol consent or not it technically isn’t counted as rape
Indigo • Jan 31, 2018 at 2:26 pm
Drinking and smoking is not consent. Doing either of those things does NOT mean they’re consenting to sex.

The original date that Timothy said couldn’t be true, because Melanie was doing a Concert, and Timothy changed the date to many times for it to be true
(note this is my opinion )
