The Rally
The students are screaming at the top of their lungs as if they were jumping off an airplane. Water, confetti, toilet paper, and who knows what else is getting thrown into the air during our third school pep rally of the year. Our spirit stick competition came down to two of our student body sections: freshman and seniors. Now we all know well freshman don’t win due to the fact that they’re new and still haven’t felt comfortable to express their excitement to be a War Eagle. So with that, they have the disadvantage to get the spirit stick we all fight for. Sophomores and juniors, as usual, don’t have enough lifted spirits to cheer on to win.
The battle began with a simple text from one freshman telling the other to all wear white. Now is that really a strategy to use after knowing that most likely many freshmen just sit? It could be but it was just lucky this time. Do you wonder where these students got the toilet paper from? Could it have been from our own school restrooms? They even threw the toilet paper across the gym! From what I remember, when the current seniors were younger they got in trouble for similar behavior. In the recent past, any section that threw items or rushed the floor would be disqualified from that spirit stick competition. Have the rules changed? With sarcasm, we’re all EQUAL, thank you very much.
The excitement we get and the joy that appears on our face when seniors win the spirit stick is something meaningful. It is our last year and what we want is to win, win, and WIN! So when freshman won, seniors got pretty hyped to disagree with that freshman W. No worries though because from now on, pep rallies are going to belong to the seniors! Stay in your lane freshman.
