School board hires new superintendent
April 19, 2016
After Janie Darr had announced her retirement last December, Rogers Public Schools had to hire a new superintendent. The school board unanimously voted 7-0 to approve Doctor Marlin Berry’s contract to replace Darr. The school board anticipates Dr. Berry has many great qualities that will build the successes of Rogers Public Schools. Dr. Berry is moving from Kansas to Rogers after serving as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, superintendent, and being named Kansas’ superintendent of the year in 2013. He also serves on the board for the Kansas School Superintendents Association, and he is the chair-elect for the Kansas Council for Superintendents. He received his doctorate in education policy and administration from the University of Kansas. His undergraduate degree was also from the University of Kansas, but his master’s degree in school administration is from Emporia State University.
The Talon is excited to welcome Doctor Marlin Berry as our new district superintendent starting the 2016-2017 school year!
