Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, An Explosive Impact

Monica Sanchez, Writer

Recently, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released in theaters. The film succeeded in becoming the second biggest December opening in North America. Rogue One amassed $290.5 million, opening at number one in all markets around the world. The film amassed $135.5 million internationally, becoming the fourth highest December opening of all time.

Rogue One has proven to be a success; it is in Disney’s best interest to keep the Star Wars franchise going, somehow. For example, there’s a great course of events that transpired between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. There’s a bountiful amount of things that have been left unexplored. There are plenty possibilities for more Star Wars prequels, and I, for one, am pretty excited about that.

Rogue One, in my opinion, was better than it’s predecessor, The Force Awakens. There are several reasons why I believe so, including newly introduced characters such as Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, and a reprogrammed Imperial droid named K-2SO. K-2SO even became my new favorite droid; Cassian may even replace Han Solo as my favorite Star Wars character.

Rogue One was packed with end to end action that kept you hooked throughout the entire plot of the movie. The film also had well-written characters, played by an incredible cast. Diego Luna, a Mexican actor, particularly stood out to me with his stellar performance. He portrayed the character Cassian Andor, and he did an impeccable job.

If you have yet to experience the marvelous film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, I 100% recommend you to go watch it as soon as possible. You won’t regret it.
