“Nightfall” Play Coming to Heritage
Edgar Allan Poe’s classic tales are being retold
October 2, 2017
Get ready for a ghoulish experience this October! The Heritage Theater Department will be enacting Eric Coble’s “Nightfall”, a collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s most classic stories, on October 12th-13th in the auditorium. The three stories that will be enacted are: “The Fall of the House of Usher”, “The Pit and the Pendulum”, and “The Telltale Heart”. The play will also include a dramatic reading of Poe’s “The Raven”.
Ms. Poorman is the school’s drama and stagecraft teacher, as well as the producer of “Nightfall” and many other Heritage plays. After being asked about what inspired her to pursue this play, she stated that students, last year, asked to enact a play on The Nightmare Before Christmas. Due to licensing issues, it couldn’t be accomplished. This led her to the idea of “Nightfall” since the students clearly wanted a ghoulish-themed production. From there, she picked the most suitable students for each role through passionate auditions, and the play was born!
Admission is $5 a person, and it will be performed on October 12th and 13th at 7 pm in the school auditorium. Ms. Poorman advises parental guidance for young children. Don’t miss out on this epic retelling of Edgar Allan Poe’s ghoulish tales in “Nightfall”!
