Is That Your Costume?

Bertha Villagomez

Halloween is just around the corner. Now go and get your candy. Of course, children, teens, and even adults dress up to celebrate this holiday, but not all costumes are appropriate to wear. Some costumes may be offensive to cultures, presidents, or just joking around with how people’s figures look. Don’t take advantage of Halloween as a holiday you can dress up as anything you want as a way to disrespect someone or something. It may all be jokes and laughter for those “cool” kids or  “laid back” adults, but in the past years, many have taken offense to seeing others dress up as something so ridiculously rude.

Here’s a list of costumes you should think twice about trying on: Anne Frank for children, the President of the United States with a women in front of him, any type of culture or race as in Moana (her color and background is brown), KKK, African Americans, or any Hispanic type of costume. Anyone who is 16+ years of age should know exactly what to wear so with that being said be a better example for the younger ones and don’t dress them inappropriate because you can catch a heat wave! Be a cop, a dinosaur, or just don’t go out at all to not cause any problems. Don’t forget to post lots of selfies of your costume, be safe and trick the treaters!
