Interact Club

Pricilla Perez

The Interact club started late last year, but this year it has really taken off. They’ve got four committees in the club that all deal with the various aspects of our club.

There’s international understanding, head chair is Taylor Umbarger. This is the committee in charge of our club’s service project that will be focused on an international problem.

The Service committee, head chair is Jhomara Hernandez, this is the committee that responds to local opportunities for us to volunteer around Rogers. Recently they’ve been trying to get a food drive started. You can ask Jhomara about that.

They have the Membership and Advertising committee and they’re the ones who make our posters and design things for the club. Andrea Martinez is head of that committee.

Then they have their finance committee, which is the committee that starts their fundraisers and helps maintain our money. The committee head is Kaitlyn Slingsby. They’re currently trying to start making buttons to sell during lunch to make money for our club to participate in other service projects.

Their club president is Lesley Jimenez. Theirr club Vice-President is Taylor Umbarger. Club treasurer is Tiffany Aguilar. Club secretary is Sayra Nieto.

Right now Interact club has adopted two children from the angel tree project. We will have that posted on our club’s website after the deadline.

Interact club has also involved in the RYLA camp, which is a youth leadership program based off Rotary international. It is open to all juniors and our club will soon hold a day in which they will all apply to the camp. Our local Rotary club will sponsor it all so this comes free of charge to any junior who is accepted. There is a whole section dedicated to this on our club’s website.

They’ve also been volunteering at various places around town. Most recently we’ve made thanksgiving cards that we sent to the Innisfree health rehab here in Rogers. We’ve also volunteered at the samaritan shop and the women’s shelter shop. Right now we’re hoping to add the public library to the places we’ve volunteered.

(Thank you to Lesley Jimenez for Tue information.)
