February 16, 2018
Tiffany Taylor, one of Heritage High’s AP Physics teachers, received one the most notable awards for American teachers in November of 2017.
With over 100 nominees, Taylor was given the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, and an honorary plaque to go with it.
According to the program responsible for the award, “Presidential Awardees receive a certificate signed by the President of the United States, a trip to Washington D.C. to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.”
“I was surprised when I first was told. I felt really honored that I had been nominated,” said Taylor. Her plaque currently sits at her desk, and it’s a significant reminder of excellence at Heritage to the highest degree.
Taylor hasn’t only made a mark for herself with this achievement; Heritage has gained widespread scholarly attention thanks to this prestigious award, and it’s sure to benefit everyone at the school for years to come.
