CIA Believes Russia May Have Affected Election Results
December 14, 2016
Last week, the CIA announced that they suspected Russian interference in the results of the 2016 election.
American intelligence agencies reported to lawmakers with “high confidence” that Russian hackers worked to help Donald Trump win the election. In the past, Russia has been a huge topic of discussion concerning Trump. He’s called upon the country many times via Twitter for help in defeating Clinton. It was rumored that the Russians leaked Democrat documents to the public in the infamous Wikileaks scandal.
With so much talk about Russia over the past few months, it would make the most sense to take this new evidence of fraud seriously. Intelligence agencies have cited a plentiful amount of evidence that the election was not all fair; Trump, in the past, said many times that it was a rigged system. However, now faced with evidence that might hurt his win, the president-elect urged America to move on. He said that he had won the election in “one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history,” and it was time to “Make America Great Again”. He showed no serious concern over America databases possibly being hacked by a foreign country.
Considering his past comments, Trump seems to be friendly with Russia. During the election, he specifically asked them to help find Clinton’s missing emails. He asked them to help tip the scales in his favor. But now that it seems that’s exactly what they did, Trump doesn’t want to talk about it.
Even after the winner being announced weeks ago, the drama of the 2016 election goes on.
