Actor Gene Wilder Dead

83-year-old actor Gene Wilder has recently died due to Alzheimer’s disease, which he has been struggling with for three years. Because of his death, google searches for Alzheimer’s disease have increased. He has been acting in film since 1967 and his last film was in 2005, he was most famous for the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in which he played the names sake, Willy Wonka. The actor wasn’t only an actor, he also wrote books such as Kiss Me Like A Stranger and The Woman Who Wouldn’t. Many fans and co-workers were devastated when they learned he has recently passed away. Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, said, “It was like losing a parent.” Mel Brooks who was a close friend and co-worker of the late actor went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and recounted the time when he first met Gene Wilder and how they worked together to make the Young Frankenstein (1974) film. During the interview, Mel Brooks said “I expected that he would go, but when it happens, it’s still tremendous. It’s a big shock.” In an interview back in 2013 Gene Wilder said that Tim Burton’s remake of Wilder’s most famous film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, was a disgrace to his original work. The late actor said “Johnny Depp, I think, is a good actor, but I don’t care for that director (in reference to Tim Burton). He’s a talented man, but I don’t care for him doing stuff like he did.”
