In what was seeming to be a blowout super bowl win for the Falcons, the Patriots had a great turn of favor. Being down by 24 points (28-3) in the 3rd quarter, Coach Bill Belichick turned to his hall of fame quarterback to turn the tide for New England. The ball got rolling for the Patriots when James White carried it in for the first New England touchdown (28-9). After settling for a field goal Brady tossed his first touchdown pass to Danny Amendola (28-20). With 3:30 minutes left in the game, down by 8, it was time for Tom Brady to secure his spot in the record books, and maybe get revenge against Roger Goodell. In a surgical drive, Brady moved his troops down the field with help from Julian Edelman who made one of the greatest catches in super bowl history. After a pass interference call against the defense the New England offense was inside the 5-yard line. The 91-yard drive ended with a rushing touchdown by James White and a 2-point conversion made to Danny Amendola (28-28).

The game went to overtime and the Patriots got the ball first. By the NFL’s flawed overtime rules, the first team to score a touchdown wins, no chance for the other offense. This is good news for Tom Brady, very, very bad news for the NFL MVP Matt Ryan. Another phenomenally engineered drive for the Patriots, James White takes it in for the game-winning touchdown in what was one of the greatest super bowls in the history of the NFL. A historical super bowl ended with Tom Brady passing for  466 yards (super bowl record), James White snagging 14 passes out of the backfield (super bowl record), a 24 point comeback in the 2nd half (super bowl record), and the first super bowl game to go to overtime. During the Lombardi Trophy presentation, New England fans booed Roger Goodell and cheered as their savior Tom Brady was crowned super bowl MVP. This win tallies the 5th super bowl win for Brady and Belichick a record for the head coach.
